Owned and operated by Bob Anderson, founder of Runner’s World magazine, and his wife Catherine Anderson, KATA Portugal embodies the global vision of the KATA movement. The Andersons spend about half of their time at Anderson Manor, personally hosting guests, guiding operations, and ensuring every visitor experiences the best of Kenyan-inspired training in an unforgettable European setting.

Built in 1849, Anderson Manor stands as a symbol of timeless elegance and purpose. Once visited by Portuguese royalty, the estate now serves as a home for athletes, coaches, and guests who come to train, recharge, and connect.
Surrounded by thousands of acres of olive trees and gentle rolling hills, the property includes private guest rooms with baths, a yoga and fitness studio, a pickleball court, and Da Patio Café serving fresh, local meals. Scenic trails and quiet country roads begin right at the Manor gates — perfect for running, hiking, or cycling.
